Phoenix area weekend turnpike transport advisory (April 8-11)

Improvement projects will need closures and other restrictions along Phoenix-area freeways this weekend (April 8-11). Schedules might be influenced by severe weather. The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends drivers devise ahead, cruise swap routes and use counsel in work zones while a following scheduled restrictions are in place:

  •  Northbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) right line sealed between Thomas and Chaparral roads from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 11 p.m. Saturday (April 9) for rubberized cement paving. Northbound Loop 101 on-ramp during Thomas Road, off- and on-ramps during Indian School Road and off-ramp during Chaparral Road closed. DETOUR: Please concede additional transport time, use counsel in work section and devise on regulating other northbound ramps, including those during McDowell Road and McDonald Drive. Note: Earlier designed weekend closure of northbound Loop 101 between Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) and Thomas Road deferred due to sleet in forecast.
  • Southbound Interstate 17 narrowed to dual lanes overnight with few 30-minute closures nearby Anthem Way from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights (April 8-10) for beyond summary pointer work. Southbound I-17 on-ramp during Anthem Way closed. DETOUR: Please concede additional transport time and use counsel due to negligence or stopped traffic. Drivers who routinely would use southbound on-ramp during Anthem Way should cruise regulating southbound Gavilan Peak Parkway to Daisy Mountain Drive to enter I-17.
  • Northbound Interstate 17 sealed overnight during State Route 74 (Carefree Highway) from 11 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday (April 12) for traffic-flow sensor work. Northbound I-17 on-ramp during Carefree Highway also closed. DETOUR: Northbound I-17 trade can exit during Carefree Highway and use northbound North Valley/Gavilan Peak parkways to Pioneer Road to re-enter I-17.
  • Northbound Interstate 17 narrowed to one line (right line open) overnight between a I-10 “Split” rotate nearby Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and 19th Avenue from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (April 11) for cement repair. DETOUR: Consider regulating westbound Interstate 10 in a downtown Phoenix area to strech I-17 during a “Stack” rotate west of Deck Park Tunnel. Please concede additional transport time and use counsel in work zone.
