USC Game & State Fair to Create Traffic Jam Saturday


ia, SC (WLTX)The University of South Carolina’s homecoming diversion Saturday will be going on while a State Fair has a standard Saturday crowd, that will meant a trade nightmare. How bad will it be? SC Highway Patrol Capt. Ricky Grubbs says, “It gets intensely bad. We’ll substantially have 150,000 people in only that one area adult there.”

It’s not surprising for a USC home diversion to overlie a State Fair, though Capt. Grubbs says a Highway Patrol doesn’t do anything differently when they do. “We run about 100 troopers per game, and it’ll be a same series for this game.”

“Before a ballgame, entrance out of a city we have 3 lanes on Assembly Street. We have one line that’s dedicated to going behind toward town. And on Bluff Road, we dedicate 3 lanes into a track and one line out, once a trade gets complicated adequate where we can do that,” he says. “Now after a ballgame, we have all lanes on Assembly headed out. Every line on Assembly’s headed out. And on Bluff Road, we have all lanes headed toward I-77.”

Willie Johnson and his mother Naomi brought their twin granddaughters, Tomeka and Tamara Rice, to a satisfactory Friday. Tomeka says, “Traffic was going to be bad tomorrow so we motionless to come by today, when it’s not that most trade and it’s easy to get through.”

They had to go an additional 35 miles around a highway since of a sealed highway nearby their house. Because of a traffic, a State Fair announced Friday it will stop offered acknowledgment tickets during 7 p.m. Saturday, that is when a diversion is approaching to be over. “We don’t wish to supplement to a trade overload by carrying people perplexing to get down to a satisfactory when people are perplexing to leave a football game,” pronounced State Fair Manager Gary Goodman.

The satisfactory will sojourn open until 10 p.m. Saturday. Gates will open during 10 a.m. and a Fairgrounds parking lot will open during 9:30 a.m.

Capt. Grubbs says even if a satisfactory didn’t stop offered tickets, no one would be means to get to a fairgrounds during 7 anyway since all a lanes of trade will be going divided from a track and fair.
